Cotinus coggygria atropurpurea

The Purple Smoketree can be used as a small ornamental tree or a large bush. New leaves emerge bright purple, changing to dark chocolatey green through summer and a vibrant blend of orange, red and yellow in autumn. Thick rosy flower panicles appear in June, leaving open wisps of 'smoke' that remain on the plant the rest of the season. Very showy! Grows 6-9' tall and wide. Hardy to zones 4-8.
